We are screening rock icon Milena Slavova’s documentary memoir as part of the “Festival of Contemporary Bulgarian and European Children’s and Youth Cinema,” which aims to promote feature films for children and young people
produced in Bulgaria and Europe.
“And No One Asks Why” traces Milena’s journey over the years. Viewers will see what stimulates, inspires, troubles, and disappoints the rock singer both creatively and personally. How does an artist navigate through time—obstacles, walls, prohibitions, breakdowns, compromises—reflected in her songs through music and lyrics. How does she survive? This is a film about the search for and creation of meaning. The echo of a soul that wonders why souls are silent or scream.
The film’s director is Mario Krastev. He is also a screenwriter, a publisher of albums featuring classical music and jazz, as well as philosophical and literary works, and a producer of photography expeditions and exhibitions, open-air workshops, and concerts. He is the director and screenwriter of over 20 films, most of which are television documentaries. The cinematographer for “And No One Asks Why” is Kiril Prodanov, and the producer is Krustyo Lambev of Concept Studio.
Both the film and the festival are presented with the support of the National Film Center.
