Somewhere in Europe, in a large city. War. A general mobilization of the country’s men has been declared. Alexander—a writer and ambidextrous man—must choose between war and love. The play “I, Who Love You,” nominated for the 2026 Asker Award, is a funny, tragic, candid, and profound story about a young soul struggling for the right to feel. Alexander’s journey to Bela is a path toward realizing the price of human life. Drawing on situations and events from the contemporary global context, the play contrasts war and love as two devastating forces locked in a struggle for supremacy against one another.
